About Chase Field

Chase Field is famously known as the first U.S. stadium with a retractable roof over a natural-grass playing field. This air-conditioned facility also has a signature swimming pool and an APS Solar Pavilion. Although officially the home of the Arizona Diamondback MLB team, the stadium also hosts concerts, college sports, and other events such as WWE. It holds a capacity of 48,405 people.

The stadium was formerly called Bank One Ballpark when it opened in 1998 – the same year of the Diamondbacks’ expansion team debut. Chase Field Bag Policy

Chase Field has a clear bag policy, and all bags entering the stadium are subject to search. Clear bags, such as plastic, vinyl, or PVC, must have no obscured interior pockets. It cannot exceed 12 x 6 x 12 inches in size. Other approved bags include:

  • Small clutch bags or wallets up to 6.5 x. 4.5 inches that fit in your clear bag 
  • Resealable and clear plastic storage bags up to 1 gallon 
  • Seat cushions without zippers, pockets, or concealable areas up to 18 inches wide 
  • Blankets and clothing carried loosely or in an approved clear bag

Chase Field Transportation

If you are driving to the stadium, there is no parking on-site. However, the venue partners with ParkWhiz so fans can pre-book a parking spot close to Chase Field. Prices range from $10 to $24. If you arrive early you might be able to find some available free parking or cheaper metered parking in the area. 

The Metro Light Rail system covers most of the surrounding area as a public transportation option. The closest stop is 3rd Street/Washington. There are also park-and-ride locations, including:

  • Central Avenue and Camelback
  • 19th Avenue and Camelback
  • Montebello and 19th Avenue
  • 38th Street and Washington
  • Sycamore / Main Street

For select baseball games, the stadium also has the D-Backs Express that runs from the mall in Tucson to the stadium. It leaves 3 hours before the game’s start time but can be a little pricey.
