Milan Fashion Week Guide

From Emporio Armani to Cividini, this year the Milan fashion week is set to be one of the best and biggest. As the collections hit the runway we have brought you the top events, dates for your diary, and all the know-how for the most anticipated fashion event of 2018.

Milan Fashion Week

Back in February, Milan Fashion Week (MFW) set the style with glitter brows, smudged eyeshadow, and natural air-dried hair. Whether you admired it from the front rows, or the post-runway shots, the designers produced an impressive range of outfits.

So, what can we expect for the upcoming spring and summer collections for 2019? Milan Fashion Week is almost here, and the city will be facing the fashion tribe’s invasion. Taking place from the 19thSeptember to the 25th September 2018, all the biggest names in the Italian fashion industry, as well as promising new entries, will tell us what we will be wearing next spring.

Neutral colours, deep purples, and natural make up for summer 2019? We will have to wait, but in the meantime, here are the things you need to know to get the most out of MFW.

Primark or Prada? Just Store it with Stasher!

Whether your bag is Prada or Primark, there are times when even the most iconic fashion accessories can get in the way of a good time. Don’t let a bag stand between you and the catwalk – safely store it with Stasher so that you can enjoy MFW hands free and snap a picture of your favourite outfit.

Stasher, often nicknamed the Airbnb of luggage, connects you with local shops and hotels where you can safely store your bags while you enjoy everything Milan has to offer. At just 6€ for 24 hours, and with plenty of conveniently located luggage storage facilities, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal out here.

Going to the Alberta Ferretti show?  Bar Leo is just a short walk from the venue, while Cartucce Toner at Milano Garibaldi is next to the train station and a necessary stop if you’re arriving by train.

Dates for your diary

For a full list of events and schedule see here.

Alberto Zambelli is set to kick off Milan Fashion Week at 9.30 on September 19th, followed by Albino Teodoro.  Finishing at 20.00, this day features well known designers such as Alberta Ferretti and No21.

The 20th will bring to the stage Tiziano Guardini, Emporio Armani and the modern styles of Moschino; renowned for their impressive vibrant and iconic outfits we are waiting with baited breath as to what their collections may showcase.

From Tod’s to Versace, the weekend is potentially going to be the busiest time of the Fashion Week with the Von Grüning Pret-a-Porter/Accessories show being featured at 20.00. This is a designer we personally love this year with the use of recycled leather and extremely wearable black on pink styles.

Salvatore Ferragamo starts the Sunday off followed by Simonetta Ravizza and ending with Missoni. Ending at 20.45 this day will be vibrant with contemporary touches. With Ravizza currently featuring the “welcome to the jungle” collection and Missoni focusing on sophisticated colours it will be interesting to see where they take their new collections.

The Monday starts at 9.30, finishing at an earlier time of 17.45. Guests can expect to see the likes of Giorgio Armani, Laura Biagiotti and a finale of Francesca Liberatore.

The final day on the 24th September sees three designers take to the runway. Ultrachic begins the day at 9.30 followed by Chika Kisada and finishing with the sleek styles of Atsushi Nakashima.

When in Milan: A between the shows guide

If you want to take a break from the catwalk – without forgetting style and taste – head to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to relax and grab a bite to eat. From an indulgent gelato to a pastry at Pasticceria Marchesi, you’ll be spoilt for choices.

The Galleria is the perfect spot to shop in style after getting inspired by the Fashion Shows – this four-storey arcade housed within a glass dome and detailed brickwork is the oldest active shopping centre in Italy.

Looking for food with a view? Ceresio 7 is a trendy restaurant on the rooftop terrace of the historical Enel building. As you overlook the Milanese skyline from the modern rooftop with two swimming pools, enjoy outstanding cocktails and a hip vibe. A must in Milan.
