About Petco Park

Although it is primarily known as the home of the San Diego Padres, Petco Park is a versatile venue used frequently for other events. First opened in 2004, the stadium is named after the San Diego-based pet retailer Petco (which paid for the rights until 2026). Petco Park is famous for having amazing views of San Diego, with an innovative architecture that makes it look like it was woven in the cityscape. It also offers the “best sight lines in baseball,” according to the MLB official website.

The architectural firm that designed the stadium so that the concourses are facing both a field and the city, which is a first in MLB. Also, contrary to most other outdoor ballparks, the batter faces the north. Therefore, the patrons in the grandstands enjoy an uninterrupted view of the San Diego bay and the surrounding attractions.
