Yankee Stadium Bag Policy 2024: Everything You Need To Know

Searching for information about the Yankee Stadium bag policy? Visiting New York City is more complete when you add an event or ballgame at Yankee Stadium to your itinerary. Located in the Bronx, the stadium is famously known as the home to Major League Baseball’s (MLB’s) New York Yankees. To help you make the most of your experience there, this article covers the bag policy requirements, where you can store luggage, and information on getting there and staying in the area.

About Yankee Stadium

The current Yankee Stadium opened its doors in 2009 and is home to the Yankees, nicknamed the “Bronx Bombers.” It holds 47,422 fans during a ballgame. However, this isn’t the original stadium that opened in 1923, where Babe Ruth famously hit his home runs. Although lacking history, this new stadium has many improvements over its predecessors, with roomier seats that have cupholders and legroom as well as plenty of food options and more bathrooms.

The stadium is located in Concourse, the Bronx borough of New York City and is an important part of the city’s legacy and community. Besides baseball, you can also see the New York City FC soccer team play, watch concerts, and attend various events during the sport’s off-season. The stadium also offers guided tours, such as the Hands-On History tour that lets you see artifacts such as Babe Ruth’s bats.

Yankee Stadium Bag Policy

Yankee stadium allows only one bag per person that is soft-sided and 16 x 16 x 8 inches. This includes clutches, handbags, totes, and plastic grocery bags. The stadium also recommends carrying as little as possible to make entry easier during the bag check inspections.

The stadium has no storage area either, so it’s generally easier to attend games or events without bringing anything. Drop your bag off at a luggage storage location nearby and enjoy your time there with a quick entrance and no baggage in your way.

Yankee Stadium Transportation

While you can drive, take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft, traffic in the area before and after games can be really bad. So, make sure you have plenty of time to spare. While there are plenty of bus lines that serve the stadium, the best option is generally to take one of the express train lines. The 4 and D trains stop at the 161 St-Yankee Stadium stop across the street from the stadium.

The Metro-North train also stops at Yankees-East 153rd Street, which is further from the stadium but more convenient if you are coming from North of New York City. It’s 15 minutes from Grand Central Terminal.

The New York Transit Museum sometimes also rolls out the Nostalgia Rides, which is one of their vintage subway trains. It goes from Grand Central Terminal to the stadium.
